The U.S. Department of State’s Office of eDiplomacy will host a Learn Do Share fellow from Columbia University.
The Fellow will:
+ Coordinate the first of its kind User Experience event in DC on April 8, 2016
+ Engage directly with individuals throughout the federal government who work on user experience, behavioral and social sciences, citizen engagement, and crowdsourcing programs
+ Work directly with the eDiplomacy team (Nora Dempsey, Bridget Roddy, Asha Beh, and others) to organize the event
+ Introduce new and creative ways to re-imagine traditional processes and procedures to create a positive experience for citizens to engage with government
+ Gain access to cutting edge teams like the Presidential Innovation Fellows and 18F Digital Services
+ Participate in weekly planning meetings in person or via Google hangout
+ Create a fieldbook capturing the day and a process for other agencies to create similar events
+ Feel the same way we do about the need for government to be better
Bonus Project: help eDiplomacy re-imagine the application process for US citizen students to apply to the Virtual Student Foreign Service, the largest virtual internship program in the world.
The Fellowship will begin February 24th, 2016 and end around May 5th, 2016.
*The Learn Do Share Fellow will not be an employee of the State Department.
